Our agency’s story begins on March 1, 1889, when Walter T. Davenport, one of the first Commissioners of the then-Town of Americus, signed contracts to write fire insurance for the residents of Sumter County. This local focus continued through various ownership changes over the decades.
In 1961, the agency officially became The Baldwin Agency. Over the next 37 years, the Baldwin family operated and grew the agency solidifying their deep commitment to the region.
